We won’t lie to our residents: detox is the worst part of rehabilitation. It keeps some applicants from reaching out for help. They’re scared of what comes next.
However, it’s also the shortest, usually lasting a week or less. Your body becomes dependent on the substances you’ve put into it; your body won’t want you to stop — the symptoms of withdrawal range from highly unpleasant to awful.
Medical Detox This is typically the first stage of the addiction treatment process. Medically assisted detoxes help with this process on an as-needed basis if deemed medically necessary. During our initial assessment, our clinicians will determine the proper path for your treatment. Learn More

Following intake and detox, a typical day at Lake Hughes Recovery starts with a leisurely 7:30 AM to 8 AM wake-up call. Next, you’ll sit down to a nutritious breakfast prepared by our onsite chef, followed by chores like cleaning your room and making your bed. Sticking to a routine is essential. The rest of the morning will usually be spent in group therapy with our counselors or meditation with plenty of breaks in between, followed by a delicious lunch.
Your custom treatment program will usually include 1:1 therapy, healthy lifestyle discussions, or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in the early afternoon. Evenings may include family therapy, 12-step meetings, and other activities, ending with a gourmet dinner.
Saturday and Sunday offer an opportunity to visit onsite with friends and family, call ahead to reserve a spot on the visitor list.
The length of your stay at Lake Hughes Recovery depends on many factors. Our program completion is 90 days. We believe 90 days is about the minimum time required to hit the reset button on addiction, replace unhealthy habits, and clear the path forward to a lasting recovery. However, the details of your family, work, financial, and personal life will ultimately determine the length of your stay.
Inpatient rehabilitation is a big commitment but undoing the damage of addiction takes time and dedication. It’s not a one-size-fits-all solution. Just because someone took 30 days means you will, too. You don’t change months or years of habit overnight. Think of it as an investment that will help ensure a happy, healthy, substance-free future.
